Mrs. Dyer’s Class Notes:

May 7th – 10th:

8th Grade American History –We will finish out the year by studying World War II.  Students have a summary over three Holocaust survivors and three Holocaust rescuers due Tuesday, May 8th.  There is no test for this chapter but the final exam will include questions from this chapter’s quizzes.

7th Grade –Students have a test tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 8th over Chapter 20.  Students will then begin Chapter 21.

6th Grade Social Studies –This week, students will exam the role of Tennessee in the Civil War.  There is a test tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 16th.

One way to help your middle school student improve essay answer scores is to have them argue their views on historical events he or she is studying in class.  Have him/her state their thesis without using the first person and back up that statement with facts he/she has learned.  If he cannot convince you, your student may need to go back and review the facts.

Parents, please don’t forget quizlet as a study tool.  If students will enter their note cards for each chapter now, not only will assist them in their chapter tests but it will also prevent them from having to enter all the chapters’ information just before final exams!
