St. Matthew School, founded to be an extension of the mission of St. Matthew Church, opened its doors to 125 students in Fall 2001. With one class each of kindergarten through fourth grade, plans were originally in place to add one class per year until there were two classes of each grade through eighth. However, due to the unexpected high demand, a second class of each grade was added beginning in Fall 2003, a full five years ahead of schedule. In the meantime, the parish launched a $4.1 million capital campaign to expand both the church and the school's facilities to accommodate the growth. A full gymnasium and additional classrooms were added. In Fall 2005, St. Matthew School opened with a complete campus and welcomed its first class of eighth graders. In May 2010 St. Matthew will graduate those students that began their elementary education in 2001 in kindergarten.
